Cyriel’s – Guards and Mercenaries – Character Details

Following are write ups of Cyriels Guards. A warning some of the later guards do include some very dark personal horror themes around rape, it its going to disturb you don’t read on.

Karvann Trueface – Chief Enforcer, Balazaring Male 37, Initiate of Seven Mothers

Karvann is Cyriels Chief Enforcer and has worked for him for 6 years now. He is responsible for co-ordinating and hiring the guards for the caravans, compound security and ensuring slaves don’t escape. He is efficient and well respected by Cyriel and the other warriors in the Citadel.

Before working for Cyriel he used to be one of King Glyptus citadel warriors , but has come to Cyriel for the money and because he couldn’t stomach the Kings family any longer.

A large imposing man, with a platted ‘salt and pepper’ beard who is more mobile on horseback than he is on the ground now, after he limps badly now after being gorged by a tusker. However he is still a capable warrior in either style.

He is a relatively honourable, straight talking no nonsense warrior with a good reputation, but has a gruff and sometimes harsh manner.  He has a good reputation and is respected by most warriors in the citadel.

He hates both Aman and Baddock and will often call them both  ‘jumped up pieces of shit’ to their faces. He believes that warriors should be direct and straight forward. However generally he cares little about his hirelings, as they should be able to fend for themselves and his focus is about getting the ‘job done’.

He has a good knowledge of local tribes and leaders and is well informed of the safety of the roads in and out of Elkoi. He both shares and sells information to Eryptus behind Cyriels back.

Aman ‘the fox’- Tax collector, Human, Male, 26 Seven Mother Initiate

Aman is a well dressed, well spoken attractive man. Who obviously spends most of his money on clothing and fancies himself as a ladies’ man. He has an urban feel and would not be out of place is the well dressed quarters of Holays larger cities.

Originally from Filichet in Holay, Aman is wanted for a string of petty crimes by the authorities. He also is a marked man by one of cities organised crime rings. He doesn’t think he will be going back any time soon.

He works as Cyriels main tax collector, ensuring business taxes are paying taxes to the king with a considerable cut going to Cyriel. Aman is skimming his own cut off the top of taxes and Cyriels understands this is the price of doing business, and will put up with it as long as it does not get excessive.

He has the manner of a fox  around the chicken coup when at work. However he  will not directly threaten, but ask. Not because he could get into trouble but because he thinks it is uncouth. If needs be he will let Baddock do the dirty work.

His prized possession is a magical scimitar he acquired in Filichet just before he left. he knows not of its origin or that it is sacred to the Yanafal Tarnis cult.

Aman is a capable street fighter but is no warrior. He has a good grasp of this fact and if faced with a serious opponent has no qualms about backing down and loosing face politely and graciously.  However he has little concept about what a sleazebag he actually is.

Baddock the Weasel – Tax collector,  Balazaring, male 29, Seven Mothers Initiate

Short. ugly and restless, Baddock is a balazaring from  a Dykene clan, he left his clan suddenly after a  rival died in a hunting accident and hasn’t been back since.  His clan would be interested to know where he is.

He assists Aman in collecting Cyriels business taxes, he will threaten, maim and kill for fun. He is a weasel of a man, with a nasty intense demeanour,  also full of energy and is constantly walking and moving.

Though his dress, presentation and manners differ little from most Elkoi Balazarings he now considers himself ‘civilised’ and is antagonistic to most hunters who he now sees a beneath him.

He keeps a evil pug nosed dog called ‘Snaggletooth’ which is unlike most seen in Balazar. Squat, vicious and relentless in a fight.

He does not have Amans good sense, and does not know when to be scared or cautious, thinking if he attack first and is vicious and harsh enough he can take any warrior. However most of the time he picks fights with pig farmers, tradesmen and women.

Wulanthi Brighteyes – Scout/Guard, Balazaring Male 43, Devotee of Foundchild

A small lithe balding balazaring man, with a long whispy beard, dressed in clothes of a lunar style. An older Elkoi tribesman who was a great hunters over 10 years ago thought is now past his prime. He has now worked for Cyriel for the past 4 years.  He spends a lot of time out scouting caravan routes and ensuring that Cyriel and Karvann are well informed of potential dangers.

A long time friend and associate or Karvann Trueface. He is very loyal to Cyriel who he thinks has given him status and wealth, he has 3 wives and extensive a family in a house in the citadel, his two oldest sons are now citadel guards. Wulanthi is a well respected man in town and is a leading voice amongst local Balazarings.

Many conservatives Balazarings disapprove a former greater hunter working for the Lunars and Namara’s group especially are seeing Wulanthis demise.

Always has two hunting dogs with him at all times. Wulanthi is an older conservative man of standing and does not like the recent addition to Cyriels guards.

Dastal – Guard, Tarshite,  Male 33 – Initiate of Seven Mothers and Acoylte of Thed

Dastal is a recent addition to Cyriel’s guards hailing from the plains of Saird. A non descript man of average height and build, sandy hair and olive skin. He appears to be ‘just another  jobbing lunar mercenary’ wandering from place to place earning what he can.

As a younger man he was a seeker of spiritual truth, he sought after inner peace. He followed the path of illumination but instead of finding peace he found despair. When his younger sister was taken, he had not the power to stop  it. When he found her body he had not the knowledge to find the men guilty and into an angry despair he has spiralled. If his family can’t be safe, why should anyone be safe?  He seeks his revenge not only on the guilty men, but on the whole world.

He has embraced the worship of Thed as the goddess of rape and seeks to spread her disease wherever he can.  If all things are one, why is life better than death, pleasure better than pain, wholeness better than brokeness?

Dastal publically does very little to be noticed, if anything he aims for the mundane average and normal in his actions, statements and  dealing with people. However he has purposefully got himself possessed by a powerful passion spirit of rape(don’t ask how). If he was sex which is not fully consensual in any way the spirit is capable of leaving as less powerful passion spirit within his victims. He is currently using sex with the Cyriels prostitutes which he guards way of spreading the  effects of the passion spirits.

Shahin Brightspear – Guard, Vaunchite, Male 26, Initiate of Seven Mothers

A tall fair skinny , but graceful warrior, Shahin is a new addition to Cyriels guards from Vaunch. This is his first seasons work in Elkoi, previously worked as a caravan guard on a number of convoys as part of a mercenary band.

Has joined Cyriels operation after he lost his girl to his former best friend, he would now kill his former friend if he could.  His old band still work on Cyriels caravans and they are about from time to time.

He is a skilled Longspearman, with a magical spear, which is his prize possession and is also a Fireblade matrix. His fighting style is not that of a hoplite but of a light fighter or skirmisher.

Shahin is well liked by most of his compatriots, he is quietly efficient usually keeps his nose clean.

However He has been possessed by a passion spirits of rape, transmitted from one of the girls in Cyriels whore house and is being driven to his rape former lover in revenge, next time she is in town on caravan duty. He has been  stupid enough to talk about this when drunk but to no one has thought that he means to go through with it.

Dariush Spearsun – Guard, Tarshite Male 28, Initiate of Yelmalio, Active lay Member of Etyries

Dariush is Orignally From tarsh, has worked the last 10 years for 3 different mercenary companies who are currently serving with the Lunar army in Satar. Tired of killing and constant war he is looking for a way into becoming a merchant but willing to work as a guard or enforcer till he gets the opportunity.

He is a exceptionally good horseman, possibly the best in Elkoi. Though his cavalry horse is not the best quality mount they have a very good understanding, and he can out manoeuvre most on the battlefield.

Dariush is a vain man who is always well presented with a well oiled beard and takes great pride is his fine set of heavy scale armour, which is usually highly polished.

An optimist who is always looking to improve himself, he believes the best about himself and most of the people round him. He is politely and well spoken around most, but quiet and distant when around Ortlanthi whom he grew to fear, and now dislikes.

Whilst working as a guard he is trying to trade on the side to build up experience and some capital. However Cyriel keeps sending him bad deals to frustrate him and sent him back to square one, as Cyriel thinks its funnier than challenging him on his breach his of contract

Cyriel likes Dariush and plans to bring him into the trading side of the business, but feels he needs to teach him some lessons in obedience first.
